Active Isolated Stretching is a facilitated, stretching technique which uses active movement and reciprocal inhibition to achieve optimal flexibility. Holding the stretch for no longer than 2 seconds and with a sequence of repititions allows the targeted muscle group to optimally lengthen without activating the contraction of the opposing muscle group, therefore achieving optimal flexibility. The main barrier of joint flexibility is tightness of surrounding muscles and fascia. When the tightness is released and flexibility is restored the results are improved blood and lymph circulation, increased oxygenation and nourishment of cells, removal of metabolic waste products and a more efficient nervous system.
As a result of these physiological changes, benefits are reduced risk of muscle, tendon, ligament and joint injuries, rehabilitation of muscle, tendon and ligament injuries, reduced postural tightness, such as scoliosis, kyphosis and thoracic outlet syndrome, optimization of muscle and tendon range of motion and enhancement of athletic performance. AIS is appropriate for anyone from athletes to individuals with muscular degenerative conditions.
Corporate Chair Massage is a simple and cost effective way to show your staff that you care about their health and recognize the need for reducing stress in the workplace. The sessions last 15 to 30 minutes and the recipient

Couples massage can either be done at our office location or in the convenience of your own home. Two of our therapists will work with you and your partner in separate rooms or in the same room. This is a great gift for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, birthdays, or just to share some relaxing time together.
Lymph drainage is a specialized technique that trained massage therapists use to stimulate the movement of lymph through the body. The lymphatic system is critical in maintaning a healthy immune system. It filters out toxins and cellular wastes, regenerates tissues damaged by surgery, trauma or burns, drains stagnant fluids, reduces swelling and detoxifies the body. This manual technique is performed by using a sequence of gentle, wave-like strokes that follow the direction of the lymphatic vessels, enhancing the lymph flow. Benefits from receiving this work are improved sleep, reduced swelling, detoxification the body, to help alleviate sinus conditions and headaches, relief of pain and deep relaxation. It is effective in reducing the symptoms of depression, Chronic Fatique Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and aids in pre- and post-surgery healing. Lymph drainage is beneficial for healthy individuals and for people with a compromised immune system. It can be helpful in preventing and managing lymphedema.
Oncology massage is a modified form of massage therapy that takes into consideration the cancer and the cancer treatment the individual is dealing with. Oncology massage training includes understanding the stages of cancer, the various forms of treatment, the effects and side-effects of those treatments and how to address these issues by using a variety of specialized techniques and a nurturing touch. The results can be reduced pain, improved sleep, restored range of motion and release of scar adhesions, decreased numbness in hands and feet, improved mood and renewed energy.
Orthopedic massage therapy is a form of massage that combines several different massage techniques. This modality of bodywork is used to help relieve pain from injury or activity which may affect the muscular skeletal system. There are three main elements involved with this form of therapy: assessing the injury or concern, matching the treatment to the situation, and adapting treatment plan as necessary. Orthopedic massage has many benefits to offer patients including (but not limited to) the following; increased blood circulation which may help increase healing, decrease pain, promote relaxation, reduce tension, and reduce or release adhesions (scar tissue). Individuals may feel discomfort because of an injury or just changes in their body due to muscle imbalances which could result in soft tissue damage. Orthopedic massage can target these areas and help regain balance throughout the body.
Neuromuscular Therapy uses a combination of tissue manipulation techniques to release contracted muscle tissue and trigger points, return muscle function to its normal state and reduce the pain response. Neuromuscular Therapy for the cervical spine and cranium is focused work designed to target headaches, TMJ Syndrome, teeth clenching and neck pain.
Gentle massage nurtures mother and baby by relaxing both, enhancing sleep, and increasing nutrient flow. It can also aid common discomforts of pregnancy, such as low back pain and swelling. Post-natal massage can help restore the body and relieve the common shoulder and back tension that results from carrying and nursing an infant. We offer prenatal massage in the second and third trimesters only.
Reiki, which means Universal Life Force, is an energy healing system that is thousands of years old. The client remains clothed during the session and the practitioner places his or her hands gently on different parts of the body to facilitate energy flow through the chakras and create a calmness and harmony to allow the body and mind to come together and accelerate physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.
Sports massage can be a useful part of training for professional or weekend athletes. It uses a wide variety of techniques including assisted stretching and cross-fiber friction to address the specific needs of individual athletes. Before an event, massage can help warm tissues to help protect against injury and improve performance. After a sporting event, the aim of massage is to rid the muscles of metabolic wastes such as lactic acid, as well as to restore circulation to overexerted tissues. For an injured athlete, the goal is to use massage to reduce swelling, hasten healing, and prevent the formation of scar tissue.
Massage is always approached with the intent of sinking from superficial tissue into deeper layers of tissue. Swedish massage addresses the more superficial layers and softens and warms the tissue so that the therapist can sink into the deeper layers and use deep tissue massage techniques.
Swedish massage is characterized by gentle strokes including long gliding strokes, kneading, tapping, stretching, rocking, and still touch to warm the muscle tissue and joints for more focused work. Once the tissue is warmed, the therapist may use deep tissue massage techniques such as compression and cross-fiber friction to address areas of chronic tightness, tension, and pain.
Thai massage on the Table is an adaptation of traditional Thai massage, which is typically practiced on a mat on the floor. The client remains fully clothed and on the massage table during the session. The practitioner guides the client through a series of yoga-like stretching movements, range of motion, and rhythmic compressions along the sen lines of the body to help the client achieve relaxation, better flexibility, and release energy blockage.
