What to Expect from this Class
Active Isolated Stretching (AIS), developed by Aarong Mattes, engages deep and superficial fascia through targeted stretching in a way that encourages tissue release. The result of this technique is muscle lengthening, relaxation, decreased pain, increased flexibility, and assisting the body in the healing process.
This three-day comprehensive class focuses on stretching techniques that are fascia, muscle, and joint specific. AIS adheres to Sherrington's Law of Reciprocal Innervation ("agonist antagonist balance") and Wolfe's law which states, "the body will adapt to the stresses put upon it." When these stretching techniques are properly applied, the result is muscle and fascia (superficial and deep) lengthening, increased flexibility, improved circulation, more oxygen to the tissue, stronger lymph flow, and overall.
